It is wise to be wary of Firefox malware. Reinstalling the latest OS via Recovery Mode on a Samsung SSD on this MBP made booting much faster versus the App Store method. If you venture with APFS, keep a "spinning disc" HFS+ Time Machine backup around. Something interesting that I learned through that ordeal is that once my system was restored from recovery mode, it boots much faster than it did before I used the "High Sierra" installer from the App Store.
However, Time Machine does not currently work with APFS, and I converted all of my SSDs to APFS thinking that CCC had my back.Ĭomplicating this matter, once an SSD has been reformatted to APFS, there is currently no obvious way to reformat the drive back to HFS+ for the purpose of making Time Machine backups. If I had a Time Machine backup, I could have restored my system from it.

I previously reported that I updated a MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2011) with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD to 10.13 with certain oddities occurring, but it seemed to work. I suggest caution and thorough study before switching to 10.13 with a 3rd party SSD drive.
